It’s here….the much anticipated festival of music starts tonight with the show Island to Island: The Cape Breton-Ireland Musical Bridge at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre at 7:30 pm. People from all around the world join the locals in celebration of Celtic music in venues all over the Island.
The festival lasts nine days and exposes Cape Breton and Celtic culture to the rest of the world through music and work shops. The uniqueness of the festival is that it is not limited to a single community but encourages visitors to travel to many communities to enjoy the music while enjoying one breathtaking view after another.
Celtic Colours International Festival has grown by leaps and bounds since 1997 when the first festival was launched in Cape Breton. Awards include the 2007 Tourism Industry Association of Canada Event of the Year and Attractions Canada Top Cultural Event 2001 plus several more.
Hoping the 2009 Colours is a raging success as were previous years. Cheers!
Wishing one and all a super day.
